Tournament Website (This has the teams that have either filled out the google form or who have registered for the event on USA Ultimate updated today)

What you need to do now (if you haven't):
1.) Fill out this form so I can have your contact info
2.) Register for the event on USA Ultimate
3.) Pay for the tournament on illinoisyouthultimate.org

If you need help or have any questions about the above three tasks, please feel free to email me at raberg1@gmail.com.

USAU Rostering:
All players will need to be rostered for this event for all teams.  If you are attending Neuqua Knockout, playing CUJO or CHSUL, then this should already be done... Yay.

Here are some helpful USAU Resources for those who haven't registered yet:
How to Create a Team
How to Register for an Event and Create an Event Roster

State Exception Rule:
At the discretion of the Youth State Coordinator, roster exceptions can be made to include players from schools that cannot roster a full 10 player team to participate. This is after these players and/or partial teams have demonstrated a full effort to recruit players and form a team from within their own school. This all will occur at the discretion of the Youth State Coordinator each season and previous season decisions will not be considered precedent setting. All roster exceptions will formally be communicated by Youth State Coordinator in advance of the competition.

We at IYU expect that coaches are promoting the growth of starting teams at schools that players are coming from.  The spirit of the rule is that coaches are trying to grow the sport of Ultimate in schools that they are receiving players from.  An exceptions committee has been formed and will be used to accept or decline all exceptions.

State Exceptions Form:
If you have any players that are playing on your team that are not attending your school, then please fill out this form.  If coaches do not fill out this form and do not communicate their exceptions than the team may be disqualified from the High School State Championship.  Please fill this out before May 21st.

Thank you for your understanding and your completion of this.

Partnering with GLUE and BICI:
We will once again be partnering with GLUE, which will be concurrently running their BICI tournament at the same time as the State Championship.  Feel free to go watch some club games during your bye.

That is it for now, more information to come.  Good luck this weekend, and in all your league games.  Let's hope that the weather has turned the corner after today.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at raberg1@gmail.com or syc_il@usaultimate.org.

USAU New Coaching Education Requirements

1/11/2018

The following email from USA Ultimate was sent last December announcing new coaching requirements.  Jimmy Robin from IYU has put together a document to help all coaches with the new process.  If you have any questions, you should email Dan Raabe per the email below.  We wish you the best, and as always thank you for volunteering your time.

Hello coach members!
As current coach members, we want to make sure you’re aware of the new education and training requirements for all coach-level members beginning in 2018.
In addition to passing a background check, a standard implemented with the launch of the Coaching Development Program in 2004, coaches must:
  • complete the concussion training course offered by the Center for Disease Control,
  • watch the Safe Sport training video and pass the included quizzes,
  • watch four educational videos created by USA Ultimate and pass the test that covers content from the videos, as well as basic rules and the Spirit of Coaching.

All educational materials are currently free and accessible online through your member account in the “My Coach Account” section.
However, Safe Sport will begin charging a fee for their training beginning in January 2018.
Even if you aren’t planning to renew your membership right now, we recommend going ahead and completing the Safe Sport training.
Save the certificate you receive at the end of the training program, so you will have it when you do renew your membership.
Please let me know if you have any questions about the new requirements or training.
Thank you for all you do to help the sport of ultimate continue to grow and develop!
Best,
Dan Raabe

State Youth Championship Tournament - Venue Change

4/26/2017

An important update for the tournament:  We are moving the location of the fields to Stuart Sports Complex in Montgomery, Illinois (Same location as Neuqua Knockout).  It will be the same dates and price, and it will hopefully provide a safer and more fulfilling tournament.  We will be running this concurrently with BICI, a club tournament, so, during byes teams can watch club teams play.  This is going to be a great opportunity to have much better fields and a larger event as a whole.

If you have not signed up for the tournament please fill out this form.  We currently have 46 teams signed up, and I am hoping to get more.

You can refer our tournament page on the IYU website to get all information, including current teams that have registered.  Also, a reminder that payment of $275 is due by May 1st, or $300 thereafter.  If the change in venue makes the timing of your payment more difficult, then please communicate with me about your situation.  I am happy to work with everyone to accommodate each of your needs to the best of my ability.  You can make payments via our website, or a mailed check, with invoice (make sure to include school name on invoice or check), to:

Illinois Youth Ultimate
P.O. Box 306
Naperville, IL 60566

If you asked for an invoice, then you can either fill it out here, or I will send you one later this week. If you have any special circumstances, please feel free to reach out.

Spread the word, and let's continue to make the State Championship larger each year!

If you have any questions, then you can contact Rob Berg at illinoisyouthultimate@gmail.com or syc_il@usaultimate.org
